The Man Of Steel To Save The World Again! YAY!!

There is currently yet another of those meaningless online petitions going around. This one wants John Howard to stop the genocide in Darfur.

Now I don't know about anybody else, but since when has the Eeeevil Little Johnny HoWARd been capable of stopping war? I thought that according to the moonbats he was one of the warmongers.

No doubt he is, except when the peaceniks want him to one. And then his is sitting back on his arse doing nothing. Well, maybe rubbing his hands in glee.

I've been looking over the comments at said petition, and my mind boggles.
sending the peacekeepers in is sending hope and that in todays world is priceless. It is not about power or the money but seeing them as individuals that have a right to hope for a healthy and safe life, don't we all want that.

This does not address the activities of the so-called peacekeepers up to the present day and their remarkable successrate at keeping the peace.

UN peacekeeping force remains the only hope to bring peace to this war-torn region. Although the UN Security Council has already authorized the force, they might never reach Darfur if the Sudanese government doesn't agree to let them in, therefore our government must increase the pressure on the Sudanese government and the UN NOW!

Hmmmm. Putting pressure on the Sudanese government. Yeah, that'll work. I can see it now... an aggressively hostile foreign government cowers down under the force of our bleeding hearts. *sigh*

And how about this one?
Stop this revolting action and provide hope

So many things I could say to this, but I'll let this idiocy stand on its own.

I suggest that everyone read this petition. Feel free to sign it if you wish.

I won't be, as the situation in Darfur has been ongoing for decades, and there is nothing our Prime Minister can actually do to change it. He can ensure that any Sudanese refugees taken in are looked after, which is a no brainer given our excellent social services, and he can talk to the Useless Nations, which is surely ongoing.

I would rather that the UN gets off their collective, corrupt arses and does something without civilised people having to plead for them to do their jobs.

I also notice that none of the comments I've read thus far have addressed the actual root causes of the genocide in Darfur - the destruction of the christian and animist peoples, by those of a different religion.

I wonder why that is?
/rhetorical question, no need to answer.

And while he's at it he can find the cure for the common cold, explain schizophrenia and stop my father leaving cigarette ends in potted plants. Get on it, John.

So the people of Darfur should be left to be slaughtered in the hundreds of thousands, but it was a beaut thing to go into Iraq, which had also had the same problems for decades, ditto Afganistan, and any other number of countries. Not seeing the logic. Yeah, the UN will do good, just like they did with Iraq and Afganistan, and Rwanda, and on and on. Leave it to them. How curious.
