The TMI Files. Dino-mite!

Needless to say, there's been a lot in the news about those cartoons. I'm too lazy to link at the moment as I've been busy working on a large post and I'm very tired tonight. I'm even aiming for an early one.

Anyway, what do people like to watch to cheer themselves up? Some like comedies, some like a bit of drama, or film noir.

I like dinosaurs. I consider Ben Hur is the pinnacle of filmmaking, but there is something infinitely more satisfying in a velociraptor ripping up the occasional person.

I've had Jurassic Parks 1,2 and 3 on rotation this week, and I think I've had my fill for now.

Dinosaurs rock. They always have in my world, and they always will. I've got my dinosaur books from when I was a kid, I've got my plastic dinosaur collection (passed on to Magilla), stuffed dinosaurs, and dino dvds and vids. You can't have too many dinosaurs.

Dimetrodon and ankylosaurus are probably my two favourites. I like the "sail" on the first, and the club tail on the second. Pretty cool things to have. If I remember later, I'll post some pics for those who are lazy and can't be bothered googling. :) I'm too lazy myself.

You homework.... please let me know what your favourite dinosaur is. T-rex or anything off Jurassic Park is not acceptable. There are plenty more out there awaiting a bit of attention.

I always liked Allosaurus as he would have hunted the sauropods and my second favourite - Stegasaurus - since they both lived in the Jurassic period.

I was most upset to learn that all those books with pictures of Tyranosaurus fighting sauropods and Stegasaurus had lied to me since Tyranosaurus lived in the Cretaceous period.

Those plates on Stegasaurus were cool.

I also had a softspot for Iguanadon as he was the first model dinosaur I ever put together.

And good ol bone dome - Pachycephalosaurus - was the second model I think. Or was it Plesiosaurus? One of those two was my second. I think it was Pachy.

Ah the good ol' days :)

Jurassic Park films for relaxation, hey, well, go figure.

I used to have dinosaurs everywhere, even a dinosaur rubbish bin. Stuffed toys, ceramic, place mats, plastic dinos from Pizza Hut (the complete set).

No favourites,they're all good.

I developed a likeness for the stegosaurus. Mainly because The Phantom had one on his "Isle of Eden" (Australian issues, 800-900 (?) Somewhere around there... haven't read them for a few years... All stored away).

Pachy's a good one, Tiberius. Stegosaurus is also great.

Caz, I've still got a stego biscuit barrel which I use for loose change. I don't have any posters, but I would have loved a mural when I was a kid.

Dinosaurs and creepy crawlies are so wonderfully alien. I think that's why I like them so much.

DAMMIT!! I forgot about Godzilla!

I hated the American version they did of that film. I wanted *her* to chew up everyone and poop them out across Manhattan.

Typical - always have to kill the "monster" in the end.... :(

Yeah they did, Mike - first and second.

And I can't believe I forgot Parasolophus. He was way cool :)

I thought about Godzilla (I remember the old cartoon with Godzookie - loved it as a kid) but he's not really a dinosaur so I don't think he counts.

Not the fire-breating, laser beam shooting Japanese Godzilla anyway

First up, guys, Godzilla is not a dinosaur. He's a bloke in a rubber suit. Even I know that! (We won't even go with the dog's breakfast american version.)

Triceratops also had a featured extra role in JP the first after T-rex and the velociraptors.

Mind you, the trike is a good one. Styracasaurus is even better if you like spiky dinos.

I thought the jury was out on the plesiosaur, 6D. I know the coelocanth is still kicking around, but I thought Nessie had been exposed for a hoax. I know Bigfoot has. James Randi has info on that one here.

And today's question?
What was rhamphoryncus?

Har Har, SixDays.

I will see your Fatwa and raise you a Papal Bull.

I wasn't aware we had evolved past the Pleistocene. Well, we have no pleistocene here in the Heart of Boganville, due to a certain young primate's tendency to eat it.

I thought we were still in the Cretaceous.

However, as the Dhimmisaurus is still alive and kicking, I'd love to know which branch of the evolutionary tree it belongs on.

Piltdown Man?
New Age Man?
Marlboro Man?

(I was going to suggest the branch descending from australopithecus, but only because that's a great word).

I just remembered another dinosaur but it isn't my favourite (truth being I don't really remember many of the names of various dinosaurs anymore. Read heaps about them when I was younger but like everything else: I've forgotten about them because I've slept since then.... :)

So... What do you call a dinosaur that hangs around the Blue Oyster Bar? A Megasaurass!!!
(BWA-HA-HA-ha.... ha... oh well... :)

BARNEY??? Barney shares a unique trait that certified to me, well and truly, that I am definitely of redneck stock. When I see Tele-Tubbies, Barney, and that god-awful, annoying kid that flew into the stadium during the opening of the Sydney Olympics: I see crosshairs floating over the TV screen.

Just imagine if Playstation came up with a game that overlayed the TV screen and put holes in the picture that disappeared after a few seconds when you shot at it with the PS gun? I don't play many games but I have the pistol with the moving slide that I play maybe once a year when I drag out the PS1 and play Time Crisis.

Oh man.... *drool*
*BAM* - cop that i-moaN Robson!!
*KAPOW* - Gay Martin, you're dead meat!!
*BLAMMO* - DIE BARNEY, DIE DIE DIE!!!!
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* - I'm running out of ammo and Nicky Webster is still on the TV - AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA (and this was a serious, sinister "BWA-HA-HA", not a pussy one like before... :)
